Who are the people behind the G&P Law team? What does their work involve, and what inspires them? How do they spend their free time? Find out in a series of interviews, part of the #G&PLawTeam column. Our fourth feature introduces one of our experienced lawyers, Atty. Ivan Ivanov, who has expertise in various areas of law. He shares insights about his profession, personal development, free-time activities, and the motivations that drive him forward.

How long have you been part of G&P Law?
– My first contact with the G&P Law team was in the summer of 2020, when I completed a three-month internship. Then, in the fall of 2021, I officially joined the team as a legal associate.

What is your role in the company?
    – Over the past few years, I’ve gained experience in various areas of law such as commercial, contract, property, inheritance, and family law, as well as the collection of monetary claims, civil litigation, enforcement proceedings, arbitration, and more. Recently, I’ve been focusing primarily on contract and property law, as well as regulatory compliance, providing both out-of-court consultations, drafting documents, and representing clients in dispute resolution.

What inspires you most in your work?
      – The satisfaction of successfully helping clients protect their rights, develop their potential, and achieve their goals.

What attracted you to G&P Law, and what keeps you here?
        – The strong relationships with partners and colleagues, the opportunities for growth, and the pursuit of shared goals.

When and how did you know this would be your profession?
          – At the end of 11th grade, I decided to pursue a law degree because I wanted to contribute to the betterment of society in Bulgaria through a legal perspective. Initially, I aimed to become a judge, but during my studies, I shifted to legal practice after discovering the fulfillment of helping people defend their rights and legitimate interests.

What disappoints you and what fascinates you compared to your initial expectations?
            – I’m disappointed by people acting in bad faith—those who break contracts, fail to keep promises, or abuse the law. However, I’m fascinated by the fact that, despite these issues, there are solutions we can offer our clients.

What are the three things you like most about your job?

              1. Using my legal knowledge to assist clients in need.
              2. Contributing to justice and order by helping prevent unlawful situations through well-drafted contracts and consultations, or by resolving conflicts.
              3. Working with businesses to support economic growth and participating in the free market through the legal services we provide.

How would you explain what you do to your grandmother?
              – I help people make agreements, buy and sell property, run businesses, and protect their rights in all of these matters.

How do you imagine your profession in 10 years?
                – With technology and AI playing an increasingly significant role, and new legal areas emerging due to societal and regulatory developments.

What’s the next step in your legal career?
                  – I’m beginning a postgraduate qualification in corporate regulatory compliance to expand and deepen my knowledge in this area, which will allow me to better assist our business clients. I’m grateful to G&P Law for supporting my professional growth, and I aim to apply everything I learn to serve our clients more effectively.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
                    – I enjoy spending time in nature, lifting weights, cycling, meeting friends, attending church, reading books, and most of all, reading the Bible and Christian literature. I also try to share what I’ve learned about the Lord Jesus Christ with others.
