Who are the people behind G&P Law? What does their work involve, and what inspires them? What do they enjoy doing in their free time? We’re sharing all this in a series of interviews as part of our #G&PLawTeam column. The next person we’d like to introduce is Niya Aleksandrova, who is a Paralegal. Niya has been part of the law firm since the summer of 2024 and has been successfully balancing her studies with her work at the office. How did she choose the path of law, why did she decide to join G&P Law in particular, and what does she enjoy about working here? What music does she like to listen to, and how does she have fun? Nia shares in her interview.
What is your role in the company?
– My main focus is on cases related to debt collection from debtors, and recently, I have been expanding my practice into the field of medical torts.
What inspires you most in your work?
– I am inspired by the fact that I can help someone defend their rights, even indirectly – this brings me immense personal satisfaction.
What attracted you to G&P Law, and what keeps you here?
– I was drawn by the opportunities for professional development, as well as by the sense of team cohesion that distinguishes G&P Law. Even at an early stage of my training, I was given the chance not only to touch upon legal matters on a theoretical level but also to apply them in practice. This is invaluable experience that few law firms are willing to provide, requiring dedication and patience from both the trainee and the mentor.
When and how did you realize this would be your profession?
– My interest in law arose in early childhood – I would say its roots go back to school. Growing up in an environment filled with legal topics and professional discussions, I gradually started developing a lasting interest in this field. These early impressions and observations sparked in me a desire not only to understand but also to grow professionally in the realm of law.
What disappointed you, and what fascinated you compared to your initial expectations?
– During my training, I have faced disappointments, especially regarding people who are expected to be moral and professional role models. Paradoxically, some of those who should instill values proved to be unsuitable as examples to follow. And yet, it was again the people who restored my faith – colleagues I have the pleasure of working with, as well as some of my fellow students, with whom I have created not only inspiring professional connections but also meaningful friendships.
What is the best professional advice you have ever received?
– Not to complain that I don’t like anything while at the same time making no effort to change it.
In your opinion, what are the most important qualities in this profession?
– Patience, perseverance, discretion, and trust.
What are the three things you enjoy most about your work?
– Communication with people is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring aspects for me – every meeting has its own unique dynamic that manages to capture my attention, regardless of how tired I am. In addition to that, I value the constantly changing work environment, where every situation brings a new challenge and an opportunity to learn. Finally, I deeply appreciate the chance, even in the early stages of my development, to work on real cases – practical experience that not only reinforces my theoretical knowledge but also gives me confidence that I have chosen the right path.
If you could change one thing in the field of law, what would it be?
– I believe that the educational system in universities lags behind the pace of technological development. Teaching methods often rely on outdated practices that do not always meet the needs of modern students, nor do they effectively support the acquisition of knowledge. I would welcome the introduction of innovative approaches and more up-to-date technologies to make education more engaging and applicable to the real professional world.
How would you explain to your grandmother what you do for a living?
– My grandmothers have always been an integral and active part of my life, and from the very beginning, they have shown sincere interest and understanding toward my professional path. If I set aside the closeness of these relationships, I would describe my work as follows: I assist lawyers in their daily tasks by preparing and drafting legal documents.
How do you imagine your profession in 10 years?
– In ten years, I imagine the legal profession will be much more closely integrated with technology, especially with the advancement of artificial intelligence. I expect AI tools to help facilitate document processing, analysis, and administrative tasks, freeing up time and resources for strategic thinking and more in-depth work on substantial cases. Nevertheless, I am convinced that the role of the lawyer can never be fully replaced – human judgment, ethical responsibility, and empathy will remain indispensable in a profession that requires not only knowledge but also a sense of justice.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
– I love maintaining an active lifestyle through exercise and spending quality time with my loved ones – these moments are my source of energy and inspiration, helping me greet each new day with motivation.
