
There is an opportunity for small, micro, and medium-sized enterprises to apply under the “Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles on Roads” procedure of the “Transport Connectivity” Program 2021-2027 for the construction of electric charging stations.
On November 18, 2024, the public consultation period for the “Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles on Roads” procedure under Priority No. 3: “Improving intermodality, innovation, modernized traffic management systems, and enhancing security and safety of transport” concluded within the Transport Connectivity Program 2021-2027.
The procedure provides grants to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to build publicly accessible, efficient, and user-friendly alternative fuel infrastructure networks. This initiative supports the development of the TEN-T network, enhancing mobility and reducing harmful vehicle emissions.
Who Can Participate?
The procedure is open to the following:
- Micro enterprises
- Small businesses
- Medium enterprises
- Cooperatives
Associations that fall within the specified categories are also eligible to participate.
Applicants may submit one project proposal. If more than one submission is made, only the most recent will be considered.
Grant Amount
The grant percentage depends on the type of applicant (micro, small, or medium enterprise).
- 65% of eligible costs for micro and small enterprises
- 55% of eligible costs for medium-sized enterprises
In both cases, the grant amount cannot exceed BGN 500,000 (five hundred thousand leva). There is no minimum size for the grant.
Eligible Support Activities
Eligible activities are divided into several categories:
- Construction of publicly accessible charging centers (one or more charging stations at a specific location) for light-duty electric vehicles
- Construction of publicly accessible charging centers for heavy-duty electric vehicles
- Construction and assembly works
- Activities related to obtaining all necessary permits for project implementation
- Delivery and installation
Important Clarification: The minimum power of the charging points must be at least 22 kW to qualify for aid.
Eligible Expenses
Eligible expenses include:
- Construction
- Installation
- Expansion
- Modernization of electric charging infrastructure
Exclusions from Eligible Expenses:
The following are explicitly excluded from eligible expenses:
- Project preparation, organization, and management
- Staff expenses
- Preparation of the application form
- Purchase of vehicles
- Rental of machines, facilities, and equipment
- Subsequent operation and maintenance
- Purchase or rental of land
Other costs unrelated to the construction, installation, expansion, or modernization of electric charging infrastructure are also excluded.
